Civil War Thoughts.

If during the Civil War, people had a way of communicating
Why is now that we have the hardest time with communication.
Maybe our mobile phones and internet are leading us further apart.
When was the last time you went without using your phone?
What was the longest time without technology to aid in communication?
When did you last spend quality time with anyone?

Makes me remember the days before we could breathe without our iPhones...Ah, to have those days back!

I'm starting tomorrow...do you think they'll replace a water damaged phone?

Ras, this was verynicely expressed, many people are starting to feel that way. I hate talking on the phone, never had a cellular. But my e-mail though is my passport to the world, and I would not give that up without a hell of a fight lol ;)

@Lorraine: Thanks L. I found myself scheduling a time not to use my phone. I find other than traveling I am kinda addicted to the computer or accessibility of the phone. What did we ever do without these gadgets.....oh yeah snail mail was the way back then. This world.

I am convinced that this is the case. What passes for normal communication are banalities and acronyms that are devoid of any substance. Being semi - retired, I do not have a cellular phone nor use email much. I have become reclusive and communicate if civility requires it and, definitely, if my intellect is provoked. By default, I am usually politically incorrect.

@étranger: We need to be comfortable, but not rely on technology for our every need. I think you are okay and blessed not to have the nagging cell phone bill, plus ever screening or lack there of phone calls. Email seems to be a tad less stress.

yeah you are right.The world is becoming too impersonal for me to live in at times...i was just musing to myself the other day that i wished to isolate myself on an island without all these...but then again,will i survive?LOL
